If you’re looking for a podcast that challenges the way you think and feel about historical events, Revisionist History is for you. Thoughtful, thought-provoking, nuanced, irreverent, and even hilarious, the show is sure to make you learn and prompt you to question what you thought you knew.

Madeline Miller’s novel The Song of Achilles is the kind of read that stays with you long after you finish the last page. A retelling of the Trojan War, the novel is told from the perspective of Patroclus, and follows his relationship with Achilles from their earliest days as boyhood friends. It’s a tale of power, influence, intrigue, and immortality, but it’s also a love story of epic proportions. The book took Miller 10 years to write and was awarded the prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction in 2012 – when you read it you’ll know why.

Nyad is a film based on the true story of Diana Nyad, who – at age 60 – committed to achieving her life-long dream: a 110-mile open ocean swim from Cuba to Florida. The film stars Annette Bening as Nyad and Jodie Foster as her longtime friend and coach Bonnie Stoll. It follows Nyad’s quest to become the first person to complete the arduous journey from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage a full 30 years after retiring from marathon swimming for a career in sports journalism. It’s a story of friendship and perseverance, and an inspirational story about what women can achieve when they work together.
